The Mitteldeutsche Fluorit GmbH is located in the Schobsetal near Gehren in the Thuringian Forest. It is a member of the Fluorchemie Group and was founded in 2004 to process the flux and heavy spar heart promoted by the Phönix Fluß- und Schwerspat Bergwerk GmbH. Mitteldeutsche Fluorit GmbH is using the location of the former VEB Fluss- und Schwerspatbetrieb Ilmenau, which is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment to create a modern, environmentally friendly industrial plant.
